Thanks E! You're probably right, but I can only deal with the cards that I've been dealt with. The Catholic Church is about faith AND reason, and this is non-negotiable. I acknowledge that "the "medicalisation" line has a less than stellar pedigree historically" - the Catholic response to this is that reason/science is not static, and hence why dialogue in the Catholic liberal arts tradition should continue. As for [2], that's irreconcilable with Catholicism, and I can't help there. This is indeed "inside Catholic baseball" stuff, but I hope that by allowing my blog to be Googleable, I can change the world a tiny bit at a time. :)
