Straight allies reflect the image and very essence of God
“Cowardice asks the question, ‘Is it safe?’
Expediency asks the question, ‘Is it politic?’
Vanity asks the question, ‘Is it popular?’
But, conscience asks the question, ‘Is it right?’
And there comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but one must take it because one’s conscience tells one that it is right…” - Martin Luther King Jr.
I’ve been thinking about the importance of our straight allies today and I wanted to say a big thank you, to all of you!
There’s nothing more terrifying than the anger of a loving parent when their child is threatened.
When their loved ones are attacked, our allies stand in the gap that we often feel too burdened to continue in.
They advocate on our behalf when we are too brokenhearted to do so, and thus they join our diverse family.
Though they may also suffer in fighting for our acceptance, their love is far more powerful than their fear. This is how they reflect the image and very essence of God, and all that is good.
Those who threaten us, who ostracise, and bully us better be ready for the wrath of our Heavenly Parent.
Lots of love to all the allies out there.
Hope everyone is coping with the distance between yourself and those you love. :)
