Online Education on the Crown

“Members may be aware that we have assisted in the establishment of an educational foundation in an attempt to reach Australians of all ages and all ethnicities together with intending Australians to provide background on citizenship and nationhood. Obviously this covers a wide spectrum, but the emphasis is on areas largely ignored by mainstream education, including British Australia and its development until independence in 1901 and thereafter Australia as a sovereign nation up until the present day.

Ignored, even in educational websites supported and funded by monarchists, is the role of the Crown within the Australian system of governance and how being a constitutional monarchy sets us apart from most other nations as a free and liberal democracy. These areas, vital to our democracy, are firmly represented in the Foundation website at: www.nationhood.org.au.

Bearing in mind that it continues to be a work in progress, you will note that included are a series of online courses. In the near future Australians will be invited to participate in the courses at the end of which their answers will be assessed and certificates issued to those who pass. It had been intended to include visits to federal and state parliaments, but of course this will need to be on hold until people are able to travel.

However, to enable the programme to proceed the active support of qualified teachers is needed to conduct webinars on a number of the course subjects listed on the Foundation website and which include:

» The Origins of Modern Australia
» The Australian Constitution — The Beginnings
» The Detail of The Australian Constitution
» The Meaning of The Crown
» The Position of The Queen and The Governor-General
» The Prime Minister and Cabinet
» Australia’s First National Parliament
» The High Court of Australia
» The Australian Founding Fathers

It is envisaged that the webinars would be a maximum hour in length and would incorporate a question-and-answer session. Obviously, in the initial stages the audience is envisaged to be fairly small but will soon hopefully develop.

Accordingly, if you are of the opinion that you are qualified to speak on any of the above topics, and would be prepared to give of your time to do so, can you please contact the Foundation at: office@nationhood.org.au.

I would mention that the Foundation has received charitable status.

Yours sincerely
