Don’t apologise, it’s all good :). I don’t experience such intersecting discrimination issues. Australia in general is different from what it was a decade ago on these issues. Or perhaps I’m oblivious to these issues now because I desensitised over time. The rank-and-file of the ADF is more conservative than other institutions in Australia, but a lot has changed in the ADF culturally as well in the past decade. I’d say your ex’s mother is not representative!
