Angela, thank you for your response, this is one of the rare occasions where a gender-critical feminist (I presume this is how you’d describe yourself, correct me if I’m wrong) is engaging with me respectfully.
I would only use single-occupancy unisex bathrooms if they had replaced all other types of bathrooms, but I recognise that this would be a very expensive utopia. If I may ask, do you support the Gender Recognition Act 2004 (or variations thereof)?
As for sports, it depends on whether the athlete has gone through natural puberty, how long they’ve been on HRT for, type of sport etc. For example, I play badminton and table tennis. I’ve noticed that because both sports are heavily skills-based (moreso table tennis), physical gender is less relevant compared to other sports. I’ve played badminton for a few years now, and I’ve either outplayed men, or women have outplayed me.
There are not many trans athletes around to compete against each other in any particular sport. I mean, I don’t know of any other badminton or table tennis trans women players in Australia, and there’s no point in me competing against myself.
